What’s Your Question? for Jan. 14

Does the Bible teach a Trinity?

The word is not in the Bible, but it means “the union of the three divine persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) in one Godhead” (Webster). From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible teaches a plurality of Beings in one Godhead. The word, God (Gen. 1:1), is plural and pronouns indicate plurality. “Then God said, Let US make man in OUR image…So GOD created man in His own image…” (Gen. 1:26,27). Isaiah said the Lord is “the First and Last” (Is. 44:6). Jesus said He is “the First and Last” (Rev. 1:11,17,18). Jesus was with God and was God (Jn. 1:1). He and the Father were “two witnesses” and He and the Father are “one” (Jn. 8:17,18; 10:30). Paul said “there is one Spirit, one Lord and one God and Father” (Eph. 4:4-6). Many human beings, one humanity; three Divine beings, one Deity.
