What’s You Question – for March 21 What is the meaning of 666? There is much speculation about the number "666." The passage (Rev. 13:14-16) was written to those persecuted because they would not worship the image of the Roman emperor. Ray Summers (Baptist author of "Worthy Is The Lamb") explained, "The safest method of determining the identity of the beast is to study the symbolism in the day in which the book was written." He said the number had been applied to Nero, the Roman Church, the Pope and Hitler. Then observed that "7" represented perfection and "6" fell short of that. "By symbol the number ‘666’ is evil raised to its highest power" and it applied to the Roman emperor, with the approval of Paganism, persecuting those who would not worship his image. It has nothing to do with your social security number!
